How to sign up
Getting started is easy.
- Sign up. You're in the right place. Sign up here to get started.
- Orientation. Attend a volunteer orientation where you'll get a dynamic introduction to the MAH and learn about all of the ways you can make a difference.
- Plug in. Start plugging in to the volunteer opportunities that excite you most. With different events each week, there's something for everyone. Check out upcoming opportunities here.
- Celebrate. Do a little dance. You're a certified change-maker and MAH volunteer, which makes you an awesome part of Santa Cruz's creative community.
What you’ll do
Go hands on with weekly creative events in our community. Lead an art activity like printmaking or weaving. Spark a smile while greeting a guest at a sunny play day. Share secret facts about our exhibitions with curious adults stopping by for a visit. No experience? No problem. Learn on the job– we’ve got handy experts eager to train you!
How often you’ll volunteer
Get the most out of your experience by volunteering once per month. Each shift typically lasts 3-4 hours, and is supported with plenty of peanut butter pretzel snacks from Trader Joe’s. Not sure if this fits your schedule? We’ll work together to find the roles and opportunities that work best for you.

Volunteer at Evergreen Cemetery
Join a team of amazing, weekly volunteers who help maintain one of the oldest public cemeteries in California, Evergreen Cemetery. Swing by to help with basic gardening like pulling weeds and clearing walkways, all while discovering Santa Cruz County History. Explore the grounds. Meet other local history buffs. Discover more about the people who made Santa Cruz what it is today. No need to RSVP, just stop by ready to work.
