About our Field Trips
Creativity, culture, and the rich history of Santa Cruz County come together at the MAH. Our School Programs engage over 2,000 students from across Santa Cruz County every year and support the Common Core State Standards of encouraging critical thinking, communication, creativity, and collaboration.
Additional Information
- One class per field trip.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) guides available upon request.
- Field trips must be scheduled three weeks in advance.

Our Field Trip Options

1. Queer Santa Cruz – Virtual Field Trip
Join Oscar, the MAH’s Education Coordinator, for a walkthrough of the entire virtual exhibition, Queer Santa Cruz. Learn about the early trailblazers to the modern-day movements. There will be time for questions and conversation following the tour as well.

2. Indigenous Peoples of Santa Cruz County – Virtual Tour
Join Oscar, the MAH's Education Coordinator, on a historical and artful adventure. We'll be learning more about the aboriginal Tribal groups located across the San Juan Valley, including timely information from the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band. Learn about the life, culture, belief, and rituals of these active communities with an interactive project following the tour.

3. In These Uncertain Times – Virtual Field Trip
Sign up for a virtual walkthrough of the MAH's new exhibition, In These Uncertain Times: Creativity, Community, and Compassion During a Global Pandemic. Learn about how the exhibition was created, and take a look at artists' creativity and resilience during this time. This virtual field trip also includes information on an interactive time capsule project for students to complete after the tour.

4. Tales at Evergreen Cemetery – Launching Spring 2021
Explore Evergreen Cemetery – a museum without walls – and learn the stories behind Santa Cruz’s earliest residents. Participants get hands-on with gravestone rubbings, hear stories from docents, and present their new knowledge to the group. 5. Careers in the Arts
Are your students thinking about exploring an art career in museums after graduating? Sign up for a virtual tour and meet some of the MAH staff members in different departments. Get behind-the-scenes stories and learn what it takes to create engaging exhibitions, design and programs at the MAH. This virtual field trip introduces students to different careers at museums along with personal stories about how our staff members got to the MAH.
