She Sang Me A Good Luck Song

Step into a vibrant Native California with a stunning collection of photos and artifacts sharing the story of the Amah Mutsan Tribal Band.

Exhibited from April 7, 2017 – July 23, 2017

Step into a vibrant Native California with a stunning collection of photos and artifacts sharing the story of the Amah Mutsan Tribal Band.

See the richness and vibrancy of Native California cultures through the eyes of Native American photographer, Dugan Aguilar. Aguilar shares the perseverance and renewal of Native California’s living, vibrant cultures. Explore portraits of military veterans, basket makers, and dancers to meditative landscapes alongside prized artifacts from the tribes.

Aguilar was inspired to create this exhibition when he saw an exhibit on California Indians at a museum in Denver. He was frustrated the display showed California Indians in the past tense. From that moment, Dugan decided his purpose was to show “natives alive and well” from his Native perspective.
