Contribute to Upcoming Exhibitions
As the MAH becomes a more community-based museum, we are inviting you to collaborate, contribute, and co-create parts of our exhibitions with us. We see these participatory elements as ways to enhance the museum experience by showcasing a greater diversity of stories, objects, and activities. This page shares some of the objects and stories we are looking for for upcoming exhibitions in the next year.
Please note that we are looking for personal and historical objects and stories. We solicit and work with artists and artwork on a longer timescale and via a different process. If you would like to learn more about submitting your art for review by our curators, please go to this page.
Share Your Love Stories, Objects, and Rituals
Our spring 2012 exhibition on love is being developed in collaboration with local artists, scientists, students, historians, and people like you. We invite you to contribute to this exhibition by sharing your own love stories and related objects and images. We are looking for:
- Stories of crazy things you’ve done for love (romantic, familial, platonic)
- Objects related to failed relationships
- Rituals you use to express love with family, friends, or pets
Share Your Collections
In the fall of 2012, the MAH will present Santa Cruz Collects—an exhibition about the things we collect and why. We are looking for people, organizations, and businesses with intriguing collections of all kinds, from fine art to bobbleheads to dryer lint. We are interested both in the stories behind the collections and the collections themselves.
If you have something to share or you know someone who does, please contact Marla Novo at marla@santacruzmah.org or 831-429-1964 x7019
