FAQ
Where can I find a copy of your logo?
View or download our logos over on Dropbox. Fun fact: The red circle is a reference to the red sphere on the corner of Front and Cooper Street which is commonly used as a landmark for locating the MAH.
How do I use the iconic *MAH red*?
You have great taste. The MAH red can be created with hex: #dd0332 or RGB: 221/3/50.
Currently, the MAH's doors are closed due to COVID-19 restrictions. How do I talk about that?
Our doors may be closed, but you know first-hand that we haven't slowed down. We are embracing the potential of this unique time to create new opportunities to support and sustain creativity throughout Santa Cruz County. Invite folks to check out upcoming events, support the MAH by becoming a member or donating, and share the news that you are collaborating with us on a project.
What's the MAH's mission statement?
Thank you for asking. Our mission is to ignite shared experiences and unexpected connections. To do this, we find, spark, preserve, and trade stories, ideas, and elements of creativity drawn from people across Santa Cruz County. We bring people together around art, history, and culture to build a stronger, more connected community. Read our Theory of Change here.
How can I let my friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, or dog-walkers know about what I am working on with the MAH?
A great way to make sure no one misses your collaboration is to invite them to join the MAH's email list or follow us on social media (links above). Then, feel free to repost or share any of our communications to your own pages. We've also been known to help collaborators draft marketing copy so feel free to reach out to your lead contact for ideas or tips/tricks. We're here to help.
Current Collaborations
Thank you for joining the MAH and sharing your talents with Downtown Santa Cruz! Here's what you need to know as a chalk artist at the MAH...
- Your main contact is jamie@santacruzmah.org
- The goal of this program is to welcome new artists to Abbott Square, add color and vibrancy to downtown Santa Cruz, showcase art safely while the museum's doors are closed.
- After you have completed your chalk circle the MAH will photograph your work to be highlighted on our blog and social media channels.
- Please send Jamie your bio, a headshot, and a detailed description of your artwork to be included in an artist spotlight blog post. This blog post is great to share with your network to help spread the word. Please feel free to use any of the information or images, giving credit to @santacruzmah on social media. See past examples here:
- In all social media posts about your experience, please tag @santacruzmah or mention the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History. We are thrilled to be able to host you and will most likely repost or share what you tag us in.
- We recommend sharing progress images or videos to social media to get the word out about your installation.
- Your chalk art will most likely be located in Abbott Square. The location tag can be the MAH or Abbott Square.
- Your work will be up for at least two weeks. The chalk does start to fade once the Square is opened, so we recommend urging friends, followers, and family to visit sooner rather than later.
