His creations have traversed the globe while becoming synonymous with American skate and surf culture. Browse the largest collection of work by local artist Jim Phillips in the exhibition, The Art of the Santa Cruz Speed Wheel.

Best known for his surf and skate art, like the iconic Screaming Hand, Phillips' surrealist, eye-popping work has been making waves since his days as Art Director at Santa Cruz-based skateboard company NHS.

During his time at NHS in the 1970s and '80s, Phillips created thousands of skate decks, t-shirts, stickers, product illustrations, and advertisements. In this exhibition, we step back in time, showcasing original creations largely unseen since 1984.

Developed in partnership with NHS, the exhibition at the MAH kicks off the world-wide tour of the collection.
