Ron Milhoan: No Place to Hide

Exploration of identify and place

Exhibited from March 26 2011-July 17 2011

Cabrillo fine arts instructor Ron Milhoan’s ancestral home is Nebraska, but for many years he has chosen to make his life in California. This exhibition explores his feelings of identity of place and his realization that “no matter where you go, there you are.

” This body of work emerged with his growing interest in discerning how much of his childhood is reflected in his art. “My drawings are a direct representation of where I am at the time. I carry a sketchbook most days and enjoy the immediacy. My paintings come out of this same process. I use color to express luminosity, and abstract patterns to camouflage the narrative. This ambiguity creates the mystery.”
