Everyone connects to artwork in their own unique way. A painting can inspire a song or conjure a memory. A sculpture could become a dance. A sketch could become poetry. These connections shape the way we look at art, ourselves, and the world in new and creative ways.

Conexiones invites Latinx collaborators from across Santa Cruz County to be community curators, selecting artworks from the Museum of Latin American Art’s collection to share personal stories of connection.

The Museum of Latin American Art is dedicated to modern and contemporary Latin American art and culture. Founded in 1966 in Long Beach, California the MOLAA serves the greater Los Angeles area, and the world, with over 1,600 works of art in their permanent collection.

For Conexiones we have developed a community-sourced exhibition format that invites individuals to have in-person access to the Museum of Latin American Art’s vast collection of world-class artwork. Exploring the collections that relate to their heritage and culture they will then share personal stories and reflections about the works’ significance directly with MAH visitors.
