Cocktail enthusiast and history buff? Come to the MAH for our pop-up series featuring classic drinks mixed with historical anecdotes and stories.
Join us as mixologists from Front & Cooper specially craft a cocktails for this series featuring a guest speaker sharing stories on a particular theme. Then, visit the museum to enjoy the current exhibitions on view or grab dinner in Abbott Square.
The History of Powwows
with Dr. Rebecca Hernandez
Celebrate Native American Heritage Month and learn about the History of Powwows, intertribal gatherings that include dancing, singing, food and community.
Enjoy a custom cocktail from Front & Cooper featuring herbs from our Native Plant Learning Garden, the Kincentricity Garden.
Tickets include one cocktail and admission to the MAH. Must be 21+ to participate.
Rebecca Hernandez, PhD, (Mescalero and Warm Springs Apache) is the Community Archivist at the UC Santa Cruz University Library, where she partners with local stakeholders to promote the acquisition, preservation, and use of archival materials that document the communities of Santa Cruz County. She served as Director of the UCSC American Indian Resource Center from 2014-2021 where she worked with the team to create collaborative programs across campus. Rebecca holds an MFA in Exhibition Design and Museum Studies from CSU Fullerton, is a graduate of the UCLA American Indian Studies MA Program, and earned her PhD in American Studies at the University of New Mexico.
