Hosted by a rotating cast of local artists and MAH staff this socially distant coffee club will meet up every month at rotating sites around Santa Cruz. Locations will be posted here on our website and on social media prior to each meet up with information about the site and directions on how to find us. Drop-in for casual conversation and enjoy the company of others out in the fresh coastal air.
BYO mug or a conversational beverage of your choice. Hot water and self serve Steeped Coffee packs will be provided courtesy of our friends over at Cat & Cloud.
Come beat the social distance blues with us, but don’t forget to wear your mask.
For our first month of Coffee Outside, Friday, August 14th, we will be meeting as an informal book club to talk about Octavia Butler’s sci-fi classic Parable of the Sower. Pick up a copy at your local library branch or purchase your own from our neighbors over at Bookshop Santa Cruz.
We chose this book to coincide with the exhibition Beyond the World’s End which features the work of Krista Franklin. Franklin's work is also featured as the cover image for a new and timely podcast called Octavia's Parables hosted by Toshi Reagon and Adrienne Maree Brown. Grab the book, listen to the podcast, and join us for some lively conversation outdoors.
Check out their newly reopened location in Abbott Square, Wednesday-Sunday from 8am-3pm.
