For the past seven months, the work of 186 local seniors and advocates has been bringing people together to address the often hidden health epidemic – loneliness and social isolation among older adults.
Now, in 2020-2021 their work will be inspiring and connecting more communities as the exhibition We're Still Here: Stories of Seniors & Social Isolation travels across California.
Last year this group of Santa Cruz County community members came together to share their stories, ideas, art, hopes, and challenges in the hope of building a more connected, intergenerational future. The exhibition they created has inspired thousands of visitors and has also touched other California County governments looking to raise that same kind of awareness in their communities.
In 2020 - 2021, We’re Still Here will be traveling to Marin, Sonoma, and San Francisco County to spread awareness on this debilitating health crisis. After touring the exhibition, the County Human Services Departments in these respective counties felt compelled to bring this message to their communities.
We hope you can stop by to see We're Still Here one last time while it is in Santa Cruz but stay tuned to see where you can see it next as locations are announced. The last day to visit We're Still Here here in Santa Cruz is Sunday, January 12th.
At the MAH, we believe that great exhibitions make our community grow stronger and more connected. Dive into the four kinds of exhibitions we put on every year.
