Parties, Galas and Celebrations

The MAH is a dynamic downtown setting for parties, galas, and celebrations of all kinds. We have hosted everything from 60th birthday parties to black tie fundraising events to holiday concerts. In most cases, you will want to talk directly with us about your event to determine which rooms and spaces will be best for your vision. Many larger parties involve several spaces. We are happy to do a walkthrough with you to orient you to the space and discuss the possibilities.

The primary spaces used for parties are the Ground Floor, the Atrium, the Courtyard, and the Rooftop Sculpture Garden. We also have a small Classroom that works well for family parties or crafting groups. To see a full listing of rooms, fees, and policies, please download this PDF.

Ground Floor

The Ground Floor is the premiere venue experience at the MAH. The rental consists of the entire ground floor of the Museum complex including the Community Board Room with attached service kitchen, the Auditorium, the enclosed Atrium, and an outdoor Courtyard adjacent to the Atrium. The Ground Floor is the perfect venue for larger social gatherings, weddings, cocktail receptions, parties, wine tastings, fundraising galas, conferences, and similar activities.

Maximum occupancy: 500 standing
Space size: 2,765 sq. ft.
Private use rate: $1,750 per event
Non-profit and government rate: $1,250 per event

Atrium

The Museum features a lovely central enclosed Atrium located in the front of the museum that provides a vibrant welcoming space ideal for presentations, parties, fundraisers, and social gatherings.
Maximum occupancy: 100 standing; 132 max seated
Space size: 1,203 sq. ft.
Private use rate: $150/hr
Non-profit and government rate: $125/hr

Courtyard (outdoor)

Just outside the Atrium, the Courtyard combines old world charm with a natural open-air ambiance. The courtyard is nestled near many downtown shops yet has a private feel. It is the perfect location for any event.
Maximum occupancy: 80-100 standing; 60-80 seated
Space size: 2,281 sq. ft.
Private use rate: $125/hr
Non-profit and government rate: $100/hr

Rooftop Sculpture Garden (outdoor)

The Blanchard Sculpture Garden has sweeping views of downtown Santa Cruz, a fountain and beautiful modern sculpture pieces. It is an ideal setting for a cocktail party, reception, baby shower or social gathering. This unique space will leave a lasting impression with your guests.
Maximum occupancy: 60 standing; 35 seated
Space size: 1,104 sq. ft.
Private use rate: $125/hr
Non-profit and government rate: $100/hr

Classroom

The Classroom is the perfect venue for birthday parties, craft parties, workshops, social gatherings, smaller receptions or school events. There is a sink and basin, tables, and chairs. The classroom has its own entrance.
Maximum occupancy: 35 standing; 16 adults or 20 kids seated
Space size: 435 sq. ft.
Private use rate: $100/hr
Non-profit and government rate: $75/hr
