3rd Friday August: Experience Metal Performances
Note: This event has passed.
Put the pedal to the metal at the MAH for a three-day event showcasing an array of different techniques, methods and forms working with the medium of metal. We are excited to share a wide range of metal working in this 3 day metal event demonstrating methods including blacksmithing, junk metal art, jewelry crafting, wire art, and welding through a variety of workshops and demonstrations. Explore the art of metal throughout this weekend-long event. Be sure to check out the hot rods, motorcycles, and art bikes too!
Get inspired this Friday night experiencing the progressive technical metal music by local band, G.U.M., and a video dance performance by Pierre Riche. Be sure to check out the blacksmithing demonstrations by Kirk McNeill and metal art by Ed Martinez and then test out your own metal techniques in a variety of free drop-in metal art workshops for all ages making robots, nail art and tin lanterns.
Kirk McNeil from Freedom Forge will demonstrate the art of black smithing on our Front Street entrance.
Progressive technical metal band, G.U.M. will play in Abbott Square from 6:30-8PM.
Ed Martinez will be demonstrating his creative techniques in junk metal art throughout the evening.
Pierre Riche will be presenting “Metaface as Gaia” as a live multi-arts-discipline theatre experience from 8-9PM. This performance incorporates video image mixing and projections with live dance and movement. The performances take place in an eight foot tall welded metal mask sculpture incorporating shadowdancing from within.
Thanks to all the participating artists including member of G.U.M. McCade Miller, Mike Jackson and Wes Thrailkill.
