MAH Milestones from Last Year
Posted by Nina on July 23, 2012
Like many non-profit organizations, the MAH is on a fiscal year that goes from July 1 of one year to June 30 of the next. That means we just concluded a fiscal year (2011-2012) and are now starting a new one (2012-2013). We’re crunching numbers for our annual report, and we thought we’d share a few highlights for you from this incredible year of growth.
MILESTONES
Attendance more than doubled from 17,349 to 37,361 visitors
We served almost one thousand more students than last year, increasing from 3,039 to 4,019 students
Our busiest day skyrocketed from 822 last year to 2,784 this year
New visitors became new members, with membership increasing from 1,304 to 1,759 member families
WE ALSO
Received extensive press for our innovative approach, including mentions in the New York Times and the Washington Post
Provided opportunities to over 800 artists and community organizations with whom we collaborated to produce 3rd Fridays festivals and First Friday programming
Enjoyed the support of 156 volunteers, who provided 12,000 hours of service, including 2,000 hours of work at Evergreen Cemetery
Worked with 61 interns, including graduate students and museum professionals from around the world
Created new community events, including 3rd Friday, Glow, and the Wearable Art Ball, which draw people downtown and reflect Santa Cruz’s unique culture in a powerful way
Developed new arts outreach educational programming for elementary schools, serving 178 Watsonville and Santa Cruz students in the 2011-2012 pilot
Thank you for helping make this year a year of growth, excitement, and community engagement here at the MAH.
