Apply for a Local History Grant
Posted by Nina on August 7, 2012
Do you have a local history research project in the works? Want to receive some funding and support for your passion for the past and future of Santa Cruz County?
The History Forum, a group of MAH members with a particular interest in local history, supports the annual Dolkas Award competition for local history research. The award comes with public recognition and a grant of $1,200 to support original projects that promote the understanding of the history of the Santa Cruz/Monterey Bay Area. These projects can be documentaries, studies, performances, or publications. We care about the content and the intent, and we look forward to receiving applications that reflect innovative approaches to preserving and presenting local history.
The History Forum has also traditionally given a Historian of the Year award for local history work. This year, that award is being reborn as the Distinguished Historian award. We wanted to find a way to acknowledge that you don’t have to be a professional historian to be an effective champion for local history. This year, we are opening the nomination process for this award, and we invite you to nominate someone who has inspired you with their dedication to Santa Cruz regional history.
For more information on how to apply or nominate someone, please check out this page. All applications and nominations are due in by October 1, 2012.
