Ruth Maria (Adams) Trotts (1898-1986) was the grand-daughter of the Rev. Phelps R. Adams, ordained Congregational minister, Civil War veteran, and California State Assemblyman for Santa Cruz County, who, with wife Agnes (Hommon) Adams and four children, moved to Bonny Doon, California, from Illinois in 1887. In 1891 their son Everett W. Adams (1869-1938) married Emma A. Jenne (1872-1920), daughter of Ormond D. and Emily Jenne, other early residents of Bonny Doon and Santa Cruz. Their children, Glen and Ruth, were born in Bonny Doon. Ruth Adams married Santa Cruz High School classmate William Victor Trotts. William Victor Trotts (1897-1964) was the son of William Harry Trotts (1848-1926), a native of Austria, and Mary Catherine Bernstein (1868-1943). They were early residents of Felton. William was a cooper at the Felton lime kilns. William Victor and Ruth Trotts lived in Felton before moving to Santa Cruz about 1940, where they lived in Ruth’s family home on High Street. Victor worked for the Santa Cruz Lumber Co. Their children were Marilyn Emma (Trotts) Hoedemaker (1926-1993), Patricia Beth (Trotts) Jones (1928-2003), and William Everett Trotts (1930- ).
